Sihy invests in larger production facilities and moves to Raisio

The success of the shipyard strengthens ship builders’ trust in the future.

Sihy has moved its workshop to new facilities in Raisio. Sihy’s backers have acquired a two-hectare site located in the Konsa area with a workshop of about 6 500m2. The former owners of the workshop, Kallion Konepaja, will begin renting Sihy’s previous workshop in Naantali. “We need a lot more space so that we can meet the growing demands from Turku shipyard”, says Sihy’s CEO, Jarno Soinila. “We can take into use a good plot of land and a great workshop, which we then develop and expand.”

The property deal was agreed at 1.45 million euros. According to Henri Hyvärinen, chairman of the board at Sihy, the success of Turku shipyard will encourage local partners of the shipyard to also make investments. In addition to the production facilities, Sihy intends to invest in machinery and recruitment.

“We are looking confidently ahead, thanks to the orders at the shipyard”, saya Hyvärinen. “Our goal is to solidify our cooperation so that together we can build ships in Turku more efficiently and with higher quality.
