Halikko Steel’s pipeshop business and machinery transfer to Sihy ownership

Investments in machines, workspaces, and recruitment increase production capacity significantly.

Raisio based Sihy Ltd. has acquired Halikko Steel’s pipeshop business and its machinery. The machines acquired as part of the asset deal will allow Sihy’s production capacity to increase almost threefold. “This investment is one of the most important in terms of Sihy’s growth”, say Sihy’s CEO, Jarno Soinila. “When we invest not only in machines but also workspace and new professional recruitment, we can produce up to 2000 prefabricated pipes per week, whereas before we could only produce 700”.

According to Soinila, the motive behind the investment is the strong growth of the Turku shipyard. Sihy’s owners want to ensure that the company’s machinery is sufficient in terms of both quality and number so that it can meet the needs of shipbuilding. Among the machines acquired from Halikko Steel are an automatic plasma cutter, five bending machines, 15 welding machines, 20 spin tables, three turntables, and one turning roll.

“We have reconditioned the machinery and modernized the bending machines with the help of new digital technology”, Soinila says. “Sensible investments improve Sihy’s production cost efficiency and delivery reliability”.
