Sihy produces, installs, and maintains industrial pipes and steel structures. Our goal is to be known as the most trusted producer and installer of prefabricated pipes in Finland.
Sihy pipes are made in our own workshop in Raisio, Finland, and are installed in our customer’s sites around the country. We specialize in prefabricated pipes for shipbuilding, process and the petrochemical industry, equipment installations, pressure equipment and their maintenance. Installations are carried out by our sister company, Sihy Installations Ltd.
Sihy began making prefabricated pipes in 1988 under the name of Konepaja Sipilä & Hyvärinen. Nowadays, Sihy Ltd. and Sihy Installations Ltd. have a combined workforce of roughly 70 people. Our turnover in 2019 is approximately 8 million euros.
We believe that continuously improving our operations is the key to sustainable success. At Sihy, we have a saying, “we do better, every day”, and that’s how we work, too. We are always on the lookout for innovative production solutions so that we can offer our customers cost savings, higher quality welding and faster lead times. We invest in machinery, planning, and people because we believe that the best results are the product of skilled and responsible professionals.
Prefabrication is now digitalized
Over the past few years, Sihy has invested specifically in the digitalization of its production. At Sihy, we developed a prefabrication production control system called PipeCloud so that we can offer our products more efficiently and with higher quality than our competitors who use traditional methods.
PipeCloud makes use of data from the designers, combines it with the material data, bundles the work, and also tailors the programmes for the machine tools and work orders at different stages of the job. When the work is finished, the results, geometry and material data are available to the orderer and end customer.
PipeCloud increases work efficiency between 20 and 100 percent, depending on the situation. Production can be controlled in real time, for example, the progress of a welding job can be tracked at the level of individual joints. A measurable fact replaces vague estimates.
Quality and safety
Sihy’s quality handbook and production system is designed to meet the requirements of ISO9001:2008 and SFS EN 1090-1. Welding is carried out according to ISO 3834-2:n standards. Sihy Ltd.’s quality system covers the production, assembly, installation, and maintenance services of pipes, steel structures, and pressure machines.
Inspecta has awarded our welding quality system with a construction certificate that meets ISO 3834-2:2005 standards, and our internal production quality monitoring that meets EN 1090-1:2009+A1:2011 standards in implementation classes EXC1 and EXC2. Welding coordination is carried out by our production manager, Kari Hyvärinen IWS.
Material and project management at Sihy is carried out using a production control system that starts with the offer calculation and goes all the way to production control and warehouse management. Welding techniques are comprehensive in most of the basic component groups. The installation team is all trained in fire safety and workplace safety. Some of our employees have also been trained in road safety, first aid, and ATEX potentially explosive atmospheres.
